University Medical Center Primary Care Clinics
The purpose of this project was to accommodate the growing need for clinic spaces within the University Medical Center campus. The program creates two adjoining Primary Care clinics; a larger clinic to support a residency program with 20 exam rooms and a smaller primary care practice with 10 exam rooms to support 2-3 doctors and staff. Each clinic was designed to serve a distinctly different patient population. Both spaces required the same level and quality of finishes, the aesthetics to complement the existing main campus facilities, and their own separate, public entrances and waiting areas. In order to meet the program’s exam room requirements, the two clinics share much of the centrally located support spaces, such as the conference room, laboratory, and staff break room. Its high ceilings and tall storefront windows along Tulane Avenue were used to provide natural daylight to the public waiting areas and staff offices.
