East Jefferson General Hospital – Emergency Department Renovation

The renovation and expansion of East Jefferson General Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) was the first major upgrade following its acquisition by LCMC. The project includes 4,561 sf of new construction and 35,058 sf of renovated space. Enhancements include six fast-track exam rooms, specialized pods for geriatric, bariatric, and behavioral health care, and an increase in private exam rooms from 14 to 41, including three Airborne Infection Isolation rooms.

Staff areas are expanded for improved functionality and comfort, while facility upgrades ensure compliance with modern codes. A key transformation was relocating the ED entrance from the second floor to a new first-floor lobby with dedicated patient parking and covered patient drop off. A large second-floor waiting room is accessible by elevator, while ambulance traffic now has exclusive use of the existing ramp, streamlining operations.
