Louisiana Superdome Renovations

The Superdome project involved demolition work, construction and renovations to 1.9 million sf of the New Orleans landmark. The facility sustained major damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Sizeler Thompson Brown Architects was part of a joint venture team, consisting of Trahan Architects of Baton Rouge and Billes Architecture of New Orleans. Another valuable team member was Ellerbe Becket, a respected national design firm that oversaw the project as a consultant. Major components of the project were completed in the record time of nine months in order to host the first post-Katrina NFL football event at the Superdome in September 2006.

The LSED, in conjunction with the State Office of Facility Planning, encouraged and supported participation of local design professionals to tackle the complicated Superdome restoration project. The State of Louisiana and the LSED is fortunate to have the Sizeler team on board, as we feel that our potential for success is improved due to their high quality work, professionalism and concern for rebuilding our community.
