Old Metairie Library

STBA designed a completed interior renovation for the 10,000 sf Jefferson Parish Library Old Metairie branch. Areas renovated included book stacks, the children’s area, meeting rooms, and administrative offices. A large tree play-station was designed to create an immersive environment within the children’s area that reflects the library’s existing oak tree in its adjacent park. STBA also designed a custom three-dimensional mural along the entire back wall of the library that reflects the familiar plants and animals seen playing in the backyards of the library’s visitors. Other improvements to the site include replacing glass block with new storefront windows, a new storefront entrance, an ADA accessible ramp to the employee entrance, new landscaping in the adjacent park, and a new parking lot providing additional parking spaces.
