Orleans Parish Criminal Courts

New Orleans, LA

Sizeler Thompson Brown Architects is currently renovating the Orleans Parish Criminal Courts Building (circa 1929) which is on the National Register. The building contains thirteen courts, the Clerk of Court and Orleans Parish Sheriff. The project will create two brand new courtrooms and support spaces. These are designed with sensitivity to the original courthouse and use warm wood finishes and related materials appropriate in this fine historic building. At the same time the new courtrooms are designed to current standards and outfitted with the latest technology. To generate the space necessary for the new courtrooms on the main floor, renovations to the new Sheriff Offices, Clerk of Court space, an Existing Courtroom, new Jury Lounge and a new Courthouse Café were included. Other work in this project includes code compliance upgrades, security improvements and a new roof for this building important in the history of New Orleans.
