"...A modern 911/EOC will improve the way Jefferson Parish deals with daily emergencies that affect just one individual or family and those emergencies that affect the entire parish. This facility will give us the room, technology and security to effectively handle whatever comes our way."

Chris Roberts, Jefferson Parish Councilman District 1

Jefferson Parish 911 & Emergency Operations Command Center

Gretna, LA

Sizeler Thompson Brown Architects and Burgdahl & Graves Architects designed this new Emergency Telecommunications (911) & Emergency Operations Center that will receive 911 calls and dispatch Fire, Sheriff, and Emergency Medical Services. The building will also house the Parish's Emergency Operations Center and accommodate parish officials and emergency personnel in the event of an emergency. The facility has a full commercial kitchen with food prep and storage areas for use during an emergency situation and a press room (the only publicly accessible area) for press briefings during emergencies/natural disasters. The building's location adjacent to the Parish's General Government Building will allow convenient coordination between agencies. The $24.8 million, 136,200 SF building, is under construction with expected completion in Spring, 2010.
