Madisonville Library

Madisonville, LA

The St. Tammany Parish Library Board commissioned Sizeler Thompson Brown Architects to design a 15,000 SF library in Madisonville, LA on a site that is very susceptible to flooding from the Tchefuncta River. The building is built with the main floor elevation at approximately 18' above existing grade. Vehicle parking for approximately 30 vehicles is provided beneath the building with another 45 spaces elsewhere on the site.

STBA utilized well-thought-out practical design concepts and building practices as they relate to solar orientation, prevailing winds, solar shading, energy conservation, open floor plans, recycled materials, and seasonal indigenous landscaping to provide an attractive, efficient building that will launch the St. Tammany Parish Library System into the future of "green" energy conscious building design.
